Constipated toddler

My toddler has been battling with constipation for quite some time now . Im sure it all started when we started her on whole milk at 1 now that i am thinking about it . All the P fruits use to work before but not anymore . She has pretty balanced diet . Eats lots of fruits and little veggies. Took her to Gp because she had tiny fissures due to hard poos and they prescribed her Movicol which used to work before but not so well now, maybe needs dose increased. I feel like her stomach has gotten used to it now and i hate giving her all these meds. Changed her to lactose free milk but no difference. So ,thinking of switching to plant based milk but I am a bit confused with all the choices . Anyone on the same boat?

Maybe speak to your health visitor about doing an allergy test? Then they can sort out a dietrian so you don't have to use meds all the time. We use lactulose when our LO gets constipated

Thank you for your advice , ill do that

I would try and get her off the movicol, it can cause the bowels to depend on it over time (in my experience, I’ve had chronic constipation since I was a child and started on movicol and my body became dependent on it). Lactulose is what I use on my daughter when she’s a bit bunged up and I’m able to up the dose and decrease it just based on her needs and she comes off it for long periods no problem.
