Brushing teeth

How do you do to brush baby's teeth? My son is 12mo, he has like million teeth already and I've try today to brush his teeth. Babys toothpaste, pea size, a bit smaller tbh. He was just tasting it and I had to put water in his mouth fast cause I was afraid he swallow some

I used to just use water with baby to get them used to it. You will find toothpastes made for 12mo are not going to be dangerous to swallow though. Because it’s hard to tell a baby to spit

How long have you been brushing there teeth ? Should start as soon as there first tooth appears with age appropriate tooth paste my 9 month old has two ( got his first when he was 7 months old ) and we brush them without rising - the toothpaste is ok for kids to swallow as most don’t understand to spit longs it’s just a small amount on the tooth brush he will be all good

It's not dangerous for them to swallow toothpaste unless it's the full tub don't worry. If I'm "forcing" him I put him on the floor, lying like a star with his arms open and I sit and put my leg on top of his arms so he can't turn (obviously not in a painful way just to keep him still) if he's on a good mood we watch the 2min toothbrush video on YouTube and I just ask him to keep his mouth open. My son is 3 but when he was little the lying method was more effective and he got used to it so when I said time to brush teeth he went straight on the floor

For under 3s, it's recommended something a bit smaller than a pea size - kind of like a wee brush against the toothpaste if that makes sense? If they swallow that it's absolutely safe so don't worry about it 😊
