How much do you spend on gifts for your friends' children?

I have a few friends with young children. We always buy for each other's children at Christmas and birthdays but I'm worried I'm being too cheap! I usually try and stick to around £10 per child. I had a peek at something my friend bought for my little boy and I feel terrible as it's definitely more expensive than what I purchased. But at the same time it's what I can afford! What does everyone else do?

If your budget is limited, I don’t think you should worry. Your friend is likely aware of your financial situation and would understand. However, if you clearly have the means and choose to give something inexpensive—especially if your friend went above and beyond—it might come across differently. That said, if your current budget is genuinely tight, I’m confident she would appreciate and understand your circumstances.

We don’t really do presents we do a day together, party foods, films, games etc cos it gets to the point where your just buying for the sake of buying and if there is budget differences it can be awkward, so we save all that awkwardness!

@Laura I would rather do this tbh!

Suggest it!

We also don’t do presents, just time together. And one can pay for an entry tickets to the farm, and the other buys coffee and pastries, for example
