Glucose/diabetes test- when?

Hi all, I am 26 weeks today - due 3 March 2025 and just wonder when will I have this test as NHS advizes it happens between 24-28 weeks but I havent had a booking for this yet, as I understand it takes place in hospital. Have any of you had it, is it a fasting blood test? As I heard that they ask you to drink very sweet drink they provide and then you need to sit there for 2hrs and you cant leave and then they will take blood test to see how your body processes sugar. Any experience of this?

Hey. Have you been told you’re at risk of diabetes? You will only have it if you are. But yes when I had it you could only drink water from 10pm the night before, they take blood, you have the sugary drink then you wait two hours as you mentioned then they take your blood again. I’ve had this test & it’s not bad at all. If you do have to have it just make sure you take plenty to keep you occupied.

Likelihood is you won’t require it if it’s not been booked in for you yet. It’s only required if you are deemed high risk x

Thanks both, that makes sense. No, I am not in a risk group all pregnancy is by the book aparently, so that makes perfect sense- I wont need to have one 👍🏻 Thanks again both xxx

No problem 😁

I declined mine.
