Is anyone else still losing the will with weaning?

11 months, so been at it for 5.5 months. Not much further on. Baby feeds self pieces of fruit or things like toast or crumpet, and is usually happily spoon fed (wont feed self with spoon) porridge or yoghurt and fruit or smooth pouch, but other than that, really not eating much ‘better’. Now refuses all veg, anything that has lumps. Wont eat any savoury meals even blended like curry or pasta dishes. I have to blend veg into things or cover taste with fruit puree or yoghurt. Sick of food being spat out. Advice is just keep trying, for how long?? I have nothing left to give or try… Honestly I feel embarrassed when parents have baby, nursery starts in two weeks, meant to be feeding self cereal etc no chance. When does this get better.

My baby will be 1 in just over two weeks and we are nowhere near where we should be. Like yours he likes yogurt, fruit pouches etc. and he will eat some fruits himself like peaches or strawberries but other than that it’s an absolute nightmare. He hardly eats anything whether it’s finger food or me feeding him. He also sometimes will randomly eat something like last week he fed himself a strip of omelette and seemed to love it so gave him that again a couple of times since and he didn’t touch it. I’ve tried reducing milk and I’ve tried changing the timings of his milk but literally nothing works. He’s just not really interested.

we are the same

Right there with you, we have better and worse days but on the whole my boy eats very little and he's almost 1. He's also really small and slim for his age (following the 9th centile since he was a few weeks old) so I feel bad like I'm starving him but he's just so uninterested in food most of the time. My nephews and niece were eating loads by this age and it's hard not to compare. Also like @alana mentioned, he'll really enjoy something one day and the completely refuse it the next time I offer. Every time I think we're making progress he either gets poorly or has another spell of teething which sets him back again. I totally agree that it's worrying but I guess we just have to remember they all go at their own pace and get there eventually (I don't know any adults who just eat yoghurt and fruit purée! 😂)

Thank you so much mamas I so appreciate your comments, we imagined baby eating a little christmas dinner and it would take a miracle to be honest. Maybe nursery will help I dont know. Similar with liking something and then never again. The things I wrote down in the baby book as babys favourites are no more! Its just hard to have patience but you have really reassured me. I think there needs to be more weaning help or a check in, I am worried about forming bad habits! Thank you

@Harriet yes this keeps happening to us as well with illness and teething! we go into complete refusal mode when we’re ill or teething, for weeks at a time!

Completely agree there needs to be more check ins and support for weaning! There is nothing out there. Had the 1 year check with health visitor recently and she didn’t offer any advice at all!
