Won't walk holding our hands

Our boy 16m used to walk so well holding our hands, (not yet walking independently) but for maybe 3-4 weeks now he completely refuses. He throws the worst tantrums ever if I even hold my hand out and tell him come on lets walk. He screams and throws himself on the floor. He is happily pulling up on everything else and walk along toys and furniture so I don't understand why he wont pull up and walk with help of our hands. We used to walk in the park etc too so makes me sad he get so upset every time we try now. I know tantrums are normal at this age and we have loads of them but I almost start to worry why they come when trying to walk. I want to practice walking with him but we don't even get the chance when he is like this. Last week he's maximum walked 2 meter holding my hands then he broke down screaming. Anyone else in the same situation or advise on what to do? I really start to feel helpless ☹️

Yes!! Omg my little girl both with my partner and my sister the past week when we’ve been Xmas shopping in Costco and shopping centre felt guilty letting her stay in the pram so let her out to have a stroll while holding hands she point blank refuses and when I try to explain and hold her hand she throws the worst tantrum throwing herself on floor which ended up the whole shop looking at me as if I’m hurting her and we left the shop 😩 I thought it was only us

I re read sorry my little girl can walk independently but just wont hold our hands goes the other direction when we let go

My son wouldn't for ages either , I think it was a confidence thing as our hands must not feel as sturdy as holding onto an object. Instead of walking holding hands, have you tried to encourage him to just pull up on your hands like he would on objects? You could kneel in front of him so your low and hold your arms in front of you really steady, to see if he will hold onto your hands and stand there? Might just need some confidence rebuilding x
