Have you used a sunbed whilst pregnant? This is not coming from a place of wanting to be tan, but I am lacking vitamin D, I take a supplement but levels are still low, the weather in the UK is shite and only going to get worse. Surely the sunbed for a few mins once a week is the same as being on holiday?

I used the sunbed for a bit while pregnant for my eczema, it’s not harmful to baby while pregnant the worry is about how when we’re pregnant we’re more affected by temp changes. As long as you feel okay going and don’t feel dizzy/faint in them then it’s absolutely fine! X

Maybe speak to healthcare professional before making a decision as they will be able to best advice but Google says that sunbeds breakdown folic acid which is vital for baby’s development of their nervous system. A healthcare professional might be able to help with the low levels of vitamin d too. It’s tough being pregnant, the baby sucks all the good stuff from us lol

@Natalie does the sun break down folic acid too? I’ve never heard of this. Most people in the healthcare profession see sunbeds as the devil so I don’t think they would recommend. And I am taking a vit D supplement x

Sunbeds don’t actually provide vitamin D. Tanning beds bulbs emit mostly UVA light and the body needs UVB to make vit D

@Karolina ohhh thank you! I didn’t know this!

I went on the sunbed up until about 6 months, it's more getting too hot that can be harmful to the baby, however 6 mins a few times a week will be fine! X

Yes I used a sun bed and my vit/‘in d returned to normal levels
