Breastfeeding - vitamin D

Someone just said something about giving my BF baby vitamin D and I haven’t been doing it and now feel like the worst mum ever… I feel like I kind of remember the health visitor saying to give it but tbh I think i just completely forgot at the time and now it’s been 9 months and she’s not had it… 😩😩

Don’t worry about it, new mums have a load going on and this is low down on the priority list. From 6 months they should be having a multivitamin rather than just vitamin d. They should be getting their nutrition from their milk and varied diet, so it’s really just about making *sure* they do, every day. You haven’t harmed your baby.

I’ve barely remembered to do it so don’t worry. It’s only a new thing as my friend who had a baby 5 years ago said she never was told to with her first.

I was never told to! However I discovered it myself whilst browsing the NHS website one day when my little girl was a few months old. Don't beat yourself up, there's so much to remember and plus its just been summer so she will have been getting some vitamin D from your milk from your own body stores. Now gotta give vit A,C and D tho

Its okay. Now that baby is having food they say to give them a multivitamin drop in food/drink instead of Vit d drop I hardly ever give that now to be honest as I always forget!

I always forget and it hasn’t harmed him. It’s a new thing anyway, it was never a thing back when we were babies and it’s not harmed us so I wouldn’t worry
