Anyone taking sertraline?

Just been prescribed sertraline for my moods and intrusive thoughts. Anyone else in the same boat? Nervous for the effect on my baby

I have taken sertraline before, it was okay i kind of went a bit emotionally numb on it. If you are worried about side effects try and see if you can take it every other day as it can cause tummy upsets / nausea and I think I had that. No idea what effect it could have on baby, but i presume risk wise they deem it important for you so that you can be mentally healthy for your little one especially when its born xx

I’ve just been prescribed them as well currently 14 +4 weeks, should be okay I was on a few different anti depressants in my last pregnancy and my boys nearly 3 and absolutely fine xx

I’ve been on it for awhile (before I got pregnant) apparently it’s the safer one to have when pregnant

@Eva no behavioural effects or anything? I was fine till I read the fact sheet and now im scared of the risk of asd and adhd

I’m on Sertraline, have been for about 2 years and am continuing to take during pregnancy, midwife wasn’t concerned when I told her I was taking it at my booking appointment, I will say, that the side effects can be bad for about a month + when first taking it. So be aware of that, headaches, dizziness etc. if your midwife/doctor thinks it would be more beneficial for you to take it, than to not, then I wouldn’t worry too much. They know what they are doing xx

@Caitlin did they tell you risks for baby are high enough for behavioural issues? It's what I'm most worried about. I really can't decide wether I can weather this storm without them or take them and risk my babies health

No, I’m on a very low dose. 25mg, which is what I’ve always been on. I genuinely believe it’s better for me to be on it and in a good state of mind than not and possibly have thoughts harming myself or my baby

@Caitlin yes absolutely it's a personal choice and only we can weigh up risk vs benefit x

If you’re concerned about the risks, talk to your midwife and she will give you all the accurate information, I wouldn’t always trust what you can read on google, they wouldn’t of prescribed it to you if their were detrimental risks for your baby xx

@Caitlin thank you. I have a mental health nurse but I know they are more interested in my health than of my unborn child so maybe midwife is a good shout x

i was on sertraline for years but found it just made me tired and meh all the time, so i changed to fluoxetine which made me horrendous and then i was on citralopram, stopped taking when i found out i was pregnant as i was unable to take for 2 weeks due to throwing up all the time so didn’t start back on them again
