I’m having my test next week but the midwife told me it’s because of my high BMI that they are doing it to be on the safe side.
No not everyone gets tested
You will only get the GTT test if you hit certain criteria. The test is usually carried out between 24-28 weeks. If you are concerned best to ask your midwife if you should be tested
I was told I would have to in my booking appointment because my BMI was above 30, but no one has mentioned it since! Asked my consultant today and she also said I didn't need to do it. So I'm not sure why they said I did in the beginning 🤷🏼♀️
Currently sitting through mine 🤢
I’m not getting tested as I didn’t meet any of the criteria, and baby is measuring in the middle of her growth chart, and no history of diabetes 🥰 so midwife deemed it not necessary 😊
Also if your black or Asian you have higher risk so if you’re not those ethnicities you may not need it x
As far as I know they only test if there’s diabetes in the family, your overweight or your baby is measuring big
i’ve been tested, they told me that they were only testing because my blood sugar levels were slightly higher than they normally should be, it wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be
I haven’t been tested in either of my pregnancies as I don’t have any risk factors
I haven't had the test in either pregnancy nor has it even been mentioned to me. As others have said I believe you only have the test if you meet certain criteria for risk factors and no signs of concerns.
Ah ok! I just wanted to double check. You’ve all been super helpful. Thank you 🙏🏼 xx
I got tested as had glucose in my urine at my 25 week appointment. I had no risk factors but unfortunately still have GD. For now baby isn't measuring big so I really hope I can manage it well 🤞🏻
Getting tested this morning as baby's fluid is measuring on the larger side... My urine has always come back clear though, and showing no other symptoms at all, so hoping it's all fine 🤞🏻

I believe in America it’s standard practice to test everyone, but here in the UK you only get tested if they believe you’re at high risk of having it (I.e. family history, over 40, high BMI, a previous heavy baby, if you’re a certain race). Otherwise in a standard low risk pregnancy they will not test. If once your midwife starts measuring your bump she finds it’s measuring bigger than ‘normal’ she may also refer you for a growth scan and depending on the results of that they may refer you for a GD test. So yeah, not the norm in the UK to be tested for it in your bog standard pregnancy.
I got told I didn’t need it a few weeks ago and then told today I did so yay! Baby’s tummy is over the 90th centile which is why I’ve been referred
I haven't been tested, unless you meet certain risk factors there's no need for you to be tested
I haven’t been yet although it has been mentioned
