Baby teething toys - sterilise?

Hi everyone, this is probably a stupid question 🤦🏻‍♀️ but ftm here. Do you need to sterilise teething toys before giving to the baby or can you just wash them in hot soapy water? Doesn’t say anything on the packaging and not sure if they’ll melt in the steriliser but obviously they need to be sterile if baby is putting them in mouth. Thanks 😊

Heyyyy, so I put my teething toys in Milton and sterilise them as they often end up on the floor and don’t feel right given them to her to chew on when we still sterilise all her bottles etc, I also have the Milton wipes which are good for when your out and about can clean the teething toys and they are ready in 30 seconds

I was looking up a lot on this and it seems to be that after 6 months you don't have to be so sterile and some toys even say not to sterilise them. I've just been washing with Milton's bottle wash and drying before use

Thanks ladies 😊

My husband melted a teething toy in the microwave steriliser, so don't do that lol

@Alice haha I did think this would happen 🙈 good to know, thanks

Depends on the type of material silicone teethers can often be steam sterilised etc where as some others do not sterilise them at all. Hot soapy water should be enough. You can get Milton wipes to wipe them over if you're super concerned

I melted a teether in the microwave too haha. I do a cold water Milton sterilize and then have Milton wipes for when out and about ☺️

Hot soapy water is fine. We sterilise feeding implements due to the bacteria in milk residue. Obviously everyone has their own opinion on this.

Sterilised a few times then just started using hot soapy water same as @Charley but upto you.

Thanks everyone 😊
