@Amy yeah this is kinda my thought for it. They always ask for the TV on, sit and watch it for like 5-10 minutes and then are off playing but their play does get like interrupted by them getting distracted by the TV so I’m thinking this might be a better option for background noise! The fact that it’s an easy thing for future birthday/Christmas is also a huge plus as I struggle everytime to think of stuff to get them 😂
They’ve got a sale on atm but we love ours. She uses it as background noise so we don’t always have to have the tele on, and the characters are nice little presents for others to get also x
Our 2 year old loves his! It has reduced any screen time we had to almost nothing, he loves singing and dancing to it in his room. T K Maxx has started to stock tonies for £9.99 but not all the time. There’s also an offer on in Aldi or Lidl - 2 for £20 and 2 for £24 in Sainsbury’s so if you hunt around you can get offers - and great to ask for Christmas and birthday presents from family.
@Katie it has definitely reduced screen time in our house!! I've actually just got one for a friend's little boy for Xmas... there are some really good deals atm with black Friday so definitely worth snapping one up now! Tonies do also offer a bundle discount which is how I started our collection xx
Yes I’ve seen they have some good deals at the moment for Black Friday which is why I figured I need to decide sooner rather than later 😂
we got our daughter one for her 2nd birthday and it's brilliant. it hasn't affected how much she looks at her actual books - she's currently 'reading' at the minute! i'm a massive reader so i would hate for it to discourage her from actually reading/looking at books. but it has reduced screentime to pretty much nothing. her baby sister was born 3 days before her birthday and during my 3rd trimester and the first week of having new baby she had wayyyyy more screentime than i was comfortable with and constant asking to watch bluey/peppa. a few days after having the toniebox she completely stopped asking and she hasn't watched anything on tv since then. it's great for bathtime too, we always listen to peppa pig bedtime stories or the very hungry caterpillar, and we love the songs and she has a little dance in the bath. definitely the best thing we've bought for her xx
Our little on got once as a gift when he was born. We’re just getting character for him for Christmas to introduce it but starting with the Christmas song and there is a sing and action one which does things like head shoulder ect he’s 16 month but recognises the nursery rhymes and starting to do actions so though it was a nice introduction to it x
Okay, I was convinced. I’ve ordered one 😂 and my mum was asking the other day what she could get them so I’ve given her a list of characters they would like 😂
It's amazing for trips in the car too, you can connect headphones so they can listen without getting bothered by the noise xx
@Francisca yes this is great too. We are going to my brothers for a few days for new years and it’s like a 3/4 hour drive each way. Last time we did it the 4 year old was fine but the 18 month old (though she was 11 months at the time) was a nightmare 😂
From my personal experience, they are brilliant! I worked for a disabled little boy and it was brilliant for him and also his 2 yr old brother loved it as he wasn’t talking yet so could choose which he wanted by picking characters so is good for his development - i don’t think they can be too young for it🥰 i have already brought for my babygirl and she isn’t here yet! i’ve got the white noise and bedtime story tonies so i can integrate it into bedtime routine and as she gets older get her the character tonies ❤️ they have some good deals on when you first buy the box and places like tk max have the characters all the time for cheaper xxx
I bought my son a tonie box for his 2nd birthday and he absolutely loved it, listened to it daily, was the best purchase ever. A year later a discovered the yoto and after extensive research I decided to get the yoto for his 3rd birthday and honestly the Tonie box is now collecting dust haha. The yoto and tonie are very similar in the sense it’s a screen free device which tells stories and songs. For me the yoto will last longer as the cards range from age 0-12, WAY more variety, cheaper than the Tonie figures, content is longer and there’s educational cards such as phonics, maths and languages. Before you decide on the tonie, have a look into the yoto as I find it a million times better
We got my lb one going on 3 years ago and he still uses it multiple times a week.
We use ours for lullabies every day!

MIL bought my kids one and they aren’t interested at alllll
@Anna. I do remember seeing about yoto as well when I first started looking but didn’t look much further into as I honestly wouldn’t trust my kids not to lose or trash the cards 😂 they’re a little feral 😂
@Charlie this is the fear 😂
@Katie well this was another thing actually, he would play with the tonie figures and often lose them whereas the yoto the cards are kept in a wallet/folder and so far we haven’t lost any 🤞😅
@Anna. Oh yeah I’m expecting that to happen with the figures too. I’ve bought a case to go along with it so I’m hoping to teach them to keep it all together from the get go 😂 we’ve lost loads of card type things like cards for those memory type games and uno cards under pieces of furniture that have a tiny little gap between them and the floor but are all like anchored into the walls in case they climb so not going through the effort to get them out 😂😂
I’m thinking the same thing as a joint present for my boys who will be 4 and nearly 2 come Christmas. My partner keeps saying it’s a waste of money but I know they’d both love them 😩 they both love books x
@Kaitlyn I went for it. They do have a load of good deals on at the moment everywhere for Black Friday. I ordered on Amazon because they had a box with 1 peppa character (my girls are peppa mad at the moment) for £63. My mums ordered them another character each for part of their Christmas present and I’m just gonna see how we go with that! Unless anyone else asks what they want for Christmas now and I’ll tell them to get some characters as well
Our tonie box gets plenty use. My kids are 3 and 15 months. My 15 month old can put the figures on and presses the buttons to make them start. He loves the jungle book one as its mostly songs. I dont think it has discouraged them from looking at books at all. I find it handy to stick on while im making theor breakfast so they arent bored in their highchairs. The tonies are wuite expensive but its a good suggestion for presents fron reletives if you find your ending up with too many bulky toys/clothes.
I just bought one for my 2 year old to gift to him on his bday next week! I’m so excited, I think he will love it
Got one for my 4 year old last month for his birthday and he's not stopped using it..he's even learnt the songs and words of the books!!
The 4 year old should get it. I'd say it's good from about age 2.5 We love ours and the tonies make good gifts for people to get them so the house doesn't fill up with toys. We only really get new ones at birthday/christmas. My 3 year old still loves reading books but we use the toniebox after bedtime stories and she falls asleep with it on. Also great for car trips and she's getting the headphones for Christmas so she can hear it better in the car
My 3 year old has the yoto, you can't damage the cards they are quite tuff. The yoto also lasts longer as it goes up to age 12.
I bought one for my LGs 1st birthday. She absolutely loves books, and even with this, she still does. It's just nice to have it on in the background whilst she is playing or having lunch. I also use a bedtime one in the evening. It is expensive... but it's always an easy gift idea if someone is struggling what to buy as a pressie!
