Anyone else’s little one hate fruit/veg?

Any tips on how to get a 13 month to eat fruit and veg, she is terrible she just throws it off her plate all the time, she’s extremely funny with texture she doesn’t like anything wet/slimy such as a banana or melon etc. The only veg she will eat is broccoli either in a cheese sauce (she LOVES cheese) or in a egg muffin & fruit I’ve tried putting it in pancakes but just too clever and won’t touch it, the only way she’ll have fruit is completely puree’d 🤦‍♀️ I’m really struggling, she is so fussy with her eating but she’s not a big eater either, any meal ideas anyone could possibly share please where I could hide the fruit/veg?😂 Thank you xx

You can try it in purees

Pasta and a tomato sauce so blend whatever veg you want (I used to do broccoli carrots and peas) with chopped tomatoes and herbs and mix through pasta! Loads of veg and baby is none the wiser. Can top it with cheese and make into a pasta bake too. But also just keep exposing texture is so so important! Offer fruit and veg alongside ‘safe’ foods and encourage exploration in a no pressure way x

Try her with smoothies x x

I make properly cooked rice, banana, spinach or any other vegetable, egg yolks, flax seed and dates into purées

@Valentina @Yasmin @Celine thank you girls so much!! ❤️❤️ it worries me that she’s not getting enough fruit/veg, will definitely try these thank you xx

My son went through a phase of refusing fruit and would throw it. I found that if I put them in a little snack box and we sat on the floor rather than him being in his high chair he engaged with them better and enjoyed picking them out to try, he will now eat them at his chair. Not sure if that would help your LO but it worked well for us x

I do think that more exposure helps alot - keep offering as you’re already doing. For nutrients I would continue giving smoothies and blending veg in sauces etc. but just keep offering a variety of fruit and veg every chance you get. My LO used to chuck everything off his tray but the last few weeks he’s started actually eating the fruit. He also doesn’t love wet textures. You can try rolling wet fruit like banana in coconut flakes or flaxseed or ground almond etc. Also every time you offer have some yourself to keep modelling that behaviour. Don’t make a big deal if she doesn’t have it just take the plate away and offer again with the meal next time but if she does have some, definitely celebrate that. Even if she just licks it or squashes it that’s still counts as exposure. Apparently evening smelling and seeing counts! No pressure she will get there I promise xx
