sorry to hear that, ive heard its a non-symptomatic parasite that you get by someone who has been infected with it. Was it a self swab that you did? Could it be possible that you didn’t swab properly in September giving a false negative?
@Mary both swabs were done by my OB. I just seriously don’t think my husband cheated on me. I’m trying to think of any other explanation. 😕 I’m definitely going to do a re-test and have him get tested too! I’m just worried if I’ve had it for awhile if it was a false negative, especially while pregnant and it’s been untreated
@Ru is there any possibility the first test was a false negative? Is it possible I’ve had it for years and they just didn’t run those tests with my previous Pap smears? Just trying to think of any explanation 😕
It could be possible the first was a false negative, this type of std is the most common asymptomatic type, meaning you could have had it from a previous partner or he had it from a previous partner and you just never knew you had it. Wishing you the best
@Mary that’s what I’m hoping! Thank you 😔 again I know everyone says their partner would never cheat but I really have not even the slightest gut feeling he would. We’ve been together 7 years. This is our first baby and we struggled to get pregnant for so long. I don’t think he’d risk cheating on me while I’m 8 months pregnant. Hoping we can come to some sort of explanation.
Of course there is a chance that your sample could have been mixed up with another’s or that there was a false positive/negative so I agree the best course of action is to check a third time
Okay so what I know with trich is that it's not only an infection that is passed on sexually but it's also sort of like chlamydia- living in unsanitary conditions, you can pass this bacteria by just sitting on toilet seats using dirty towels...the list goes on.. and I've had it once & I wasn't even sexually active, so...hope that helps
I also caught trich as a 14yr old virgin one summer when my then 16yr old cousin decided she wanted to wear my swimsuit that I had placed out on my bed for me. I made her take it off and put on her own and then... BOOM. I noticed the smell and told my mom who took me to the doctor and that's when they explained that it could've been transferred through contact with the swimsuit bottoms. My mom told her mom and my cousin was pissed with me. But she also got treated for it. I'm really sorry this is happening to you and I'm hoping this was some sort of mishap not involving infidelity.
Is it the GBS that was positive or what exactly came back?
Sorry! The chances of catching trich from anything other than sex is highly unlikely and uncommon.
Have you went swimming recently or used any public bathrooms?
Hoping for the best!
@Brittany 🫶🏼 it's the opposite, very likely and common. A simple Google search can also back it up
@Heidi For some reason even though they performed the GBS, it doesn’t show it anywhere in my results. Like there’s no slot for it. Only a slot for this and the other things a Pap smear shows.

@Viola no swimming but use public bathrooms plenty. 36 weeks pregnant and have to pee everywhere we go
@Diamond thank you!! 🫶🏻
I work in a sexual health clinic and this is a STI - we contact patients and advise them to come in for treatment and notify their partners for testing and treatment too. I’m sorry 😔
