Cyst and 8 weeks pregnant

Hi all, Would love some advice. I had a scan at 7 weeks and they have found a 48mm cyst on my ovary with the corpus luteum on it. At 8 weeks its now 58mm they said they can operate after baby or now ( with risk to baby) or it could rupture in the mean time. Ive chosen to not operate now as this lil bean is too important but just wondered if anyone else has been in this situation?

Similar! They discovered cysts on both my ovaries at a 9W scan. At the 12W scan they looked again and said they were massive. The first doctor I spoke to said they wanted to operate as they could rupture, or I could wait and have an elective cesarean. But then I spoke to another doctor who was like … no. You have absolutely no symptoms so why would we operate on a pregnant woman? They discussed my case with an MDT who confirmed they were simple benign cysts (so not harmful) and the further along I got in the pregnancy the less chance there was of ovaries twisting etc. And I can have a vaginal birth. They booked another scan for my second trimester and by that time discovered the cysts had shrunk dramatically. I’ve had no symptoms throughout pregnancy. I’m not sure if your cysts are the same kind as mine, but the doctors weren’t worried and have just said they’ll scan me six weeks after birth to see if they’ve shrunk more or what the situation is and if I want them removed or not

@Alexandra thank you soo much thays basically identical they said if i have elective C they will remove cyst then Or if i have vaginal they will do surgery 6-12 weeks after. Ive had cramping symptoms occationally but i feel they were worse lk at week 5. Its sooo reassuing that yours shrunk my doctor said it wouldnt shrink coz its too big sooo ill keep hoping Thank you for sharing your experience i feel like a ticking time bomb at the moment so its really helped xx

The first doctor I spoke to said they’re so huge there’s no chance they’ll ever shrink (he was a dude). The second doctor (a woman, who became my consultant though technically I’m actually still midwife led and low risk) said she’s seen cysts way bigger and if they’re not causing issues it’s ridiculous to operate while pregnant and we would just monitor. And lo and behold at the scan she ordered in my second trimester the cysts had shrunk to under HALF the size they were. My consultant said my ovaries had probably just got hyperstimulated during early pregnancy and then when my body figured out what was going on it all kinda eased off. She said for the scan after birth if they’ve shrunk more and still not causing issues I can leave them if I want and it’s up to me. So yes please don’t worry! Is your doctor offering some added scans in the second trimester to check on them? If not, I’d request as they might’ve shrunk by then

Good luck and try not to panic :) it really is super common! Xxx

Im high risk anyway as im hypothyroid so ill have extra scans and they said they will keep an eye everytime i have a scan They said the risk of torsion will be lower in second trimester but they said it will shoot up in risk post partum because theres more room so theyll book me in for surgery. I was offered surgery too but i dont wanna risk the baby but i do feel lk the way the doctor was im like a timebomb I was like is there anything i can do to reduce the risk of rupture? ( last time i had a cyst was 7 years ago it ruptured and i haemorrhaged it was only 1.5mm) the doctor was like oh ive had women where it ruptured out shoppin 😔 soo ye im just lk praying it doent get bigger or rupture But honestly it sounds lk i early pregnancy when u found out they kinda said the same! So thanks soo much for giving me hope for next trimester!! And i hope yours continue to go down too and you have a smooth delivery 🥰
