Breastfeeding

If you’re breastfeeding, and specifically feeding to sleep, does baby try to use you as a dummy after they’ve fallen asleep (won’t unlatch and wakes if you unlatch them). Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Boobs existed before dummies did 🥰 Suckling for comfort is totally normal and very natural. I've tried a few different ways of unlatch if needed and always find the faster I whip it out the bigger success rate lol But most of the time I lay until she spits it out or falls into a deep sleep which can take about half hour xxx

i tend to unlatch and then rub babes tummy for them to be comfortable and she tends to fall asleep

Thank you both. Baby nurses for the entirety of her daytime naps, and several times throughout the night. Day naps are 30 mins each but night time feeds are sometimes an hour or so and though I love breastfeeding, my nipples feel sore and I want some adult evening time 😭

@Ari I totally feel you with this. Just wanted to say we are in the same situation and if I unlatch she tends to wake so you are not alone. My baby is my second and my first I always fed to sleep without these issues. I did recently have her checked and it turns out she had a tounge tie which was causing the long feeds. We had it snipped and whilst all the other problems still exist the night feeds only take about 30 mins rather than an hour and I’m less sore from her not constantly being on me. It was a posterior tie so not visible to me. Just a thought

@Ari going through this currently the nights are the worst with the soreness through the day but ive learned that once she stops sucking for about 5 seconds i push down on nipple and slide it out then she will still suck but nothings there she tends to get fussy but i automatically rub her tummy. sometimes it works sometimes shes constantly is wanting to nurse. 😭
