@Bec thank you so much! She started getting frustrated so I just took it away without her trying anything, is that the best thing to do and try again tomorrow? Would you recommend trying again with broccoli tomorrow as she didn’t have any or try something else? X
@Lucy we just kept it completely low pressure, if our daughter didn’t want to explore then we left it and tried again tomorrow. It’s up to you to be honest, there isn’t a right or wrong way (as much as people will say there is!), I’d pop broccoli down again and see if she’ll explore it but no pressure if not. Equally you could try a different vegetable and a piece of broccoli and see if she shows any interest. Honestly, when you’re on first tries it’s so hit and miss and trial and error! Our daughter started and would only eat puréed veggies but would eat whole foods of proteins/dairy etc so we just went with that and within a couple of weeks she’d try whole veggies.
After a few weeks/couple of months of weaning she’d eat anything, and is still the same now at 18 months!
@Bec thank you so much xx
Yes this is normal! The start of BLW is very much texture exploration, they don’t have to eat anything. The range of tastes and textures in food are so completely different to what baby has felt/tasted before so just let them explore and they’ll start bringing to taste eventually 😊 definitely not failing!
