Baby number 2

Hi everyone, I’m the founder of this page. The little boy in the picture above is my son, George, who’s now 2 and a half. I’m currently expecting baby number two! I’m super excited but also a bit nervous since it’s still early, and I can’t help but start mentally preparing for the possibility of NICU again. I was wondering if any mums here have had a second baby after having a preemie. Was your experience similar, or was it different the second time around?

I had my son who is now nearly 10 months old born at 31+2 and unexpectedly fell pregnant I have worried throughout this whole pregnancy and am now currently 34+2 still worrying about nicu but I have been getting scans every 2-4 weeks which has helped my nerves so much

@Sian that’s really reassuring to hear Sian I’m glad you’ve not only reached but surpassed the 31 week mark. My son was born at 31+3 and I keep thinking let this goal be to also get to 31 weeks at least. How have you found your care with the midwives this pregnancy? I haven’t told anyone yet I’m still to early not sure when I should, I was wondering whether to wait until 7 weeks. C

@Charlotte thank you. I have found the midwife’s very good this time. I got in touch with midwife’s when I found out I was pregnant and told family and friends when I was 16 weeks

Hey so I have 3 babies, eldest 16 completely normal birth etc fullterm My middle littlmicro-preemie was born at 24wks due to my waters breaking at 22wks. - Still no idea why it happened stress maybe 😕 I fell pregnant last year, from 16wks I was put under the prem clinic- I had cervix scans every 2wks to check the length of cervix, depending on the hospital i would imagine , I got a mini scan of baby each appointment which was lovely. At 21wks my cervix started to widen , So within 2days i had cervical stitch put in ( There was also an option of a daily pessery to insert in the vag) I was given an epidural with that i could have gone home same day - However I chose to stay in Overnight, probably the first full night sleep I've had in 2yrs 🤣🤣 I carried on having scans till 34wks then stitch removed at 37 again non invasive depending how far back cervix is , they gave me gas and air - However i didnt need it just a speculum 1 snip and ot was out and I gave birth at 39wks to out little girl ❤️

@Elle (i can't see waves) thank you so much for sharing your story. I see so many similarities with mine. My waters broke at 31+6 but I had a stitch put in at 20 weeks due to short cervix. It was surreal and I’m really praying that if I get pregnant again that I’ll make it full term because I dealt with so much guilt with my first baby feeling like I just wished he had cooked a bit longer hehe xx Blessings to you all x

@Tee aaww bless you, As you know I totally relate he just wanted out 🤣 God took over as we had no control over the situation but he kept us positive mind and now look at us all ❤️❤️ Also for me i had some cervix removed at few years ago possibly 2018 after a smeer detected abnormal cells - So could also be that's the reason I had occurred these issues. I always said when I have a girl, I would feel complete now I'm like ohhh would be lovely for another girl but omg my pregnancy with my LG took it out of me lol 😆 even when I went into labour my boys I was induced so I was already in a safe environment lol, however with LG I just got to the hospital in time 🤣🤣 she came out so fast no pain relief nothing - I felt soo emotionally empowered it's actually amazing what we can do, under pressure! X

My first was a 28+2, and my second was 37+3… spontaneous labours both times, no idea why I have early babies 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did anyone have any problems with C-section scarring if they had one? Only because I’ve been at the hospital today as one side of my scar is giving me sharp pulling pains now and again more so if I get up to quickly or I sleep with my leg straight, I’ve had issues with it for a few months now I’m wondering if it’s extra scar tissue that’s grown as I know I have some in my uterus. I’m thinking baby is way to small yet to be causing the pain from stretching
