Oh no, would you say if I’m a single parent to double barrel to prevent having any conflict with the father on allowing her to travel with me abroad?
If I was not planning on marriage just yet, I’d double barrel. If I was a single mum with a completely absent dad, I’d give baby my name tbh xx
Give the baby your surname. You’re not with the father and you’ll be registering the baby.
I double barreled my daughter’s last name as me and her dad are together but not married. I took my daughter to the US in march this year and not a single person questioned anything on the whole trip and we went to three states and on 6 flights. As you’re not together I’d give the child your last name just for the ease of things
Give the baby your surname, you’re not with the father and you’ve done all the hard work growing her.
I'm not with my girls dad, hadn't been months prior to her birth. I double barrelled her surname, thankfully - he's in her life (18 hours a month, his choice) but I wish I'd just given her my surname in all honesty. I've booked a holiday for us and I've got him to sign a letter to allow me to take her abroad. Probably won't need it but least I have it in case xx
Just give her your surname!!
So prior to getting married I travelled with a letter from dad and her birth certificate. I was stopped once in the uk and once in the us when travelling alone with her, so yes. Different surnames does impact things like travel. I also needed a letter from both of us on applying for a new passport for her after ours were all stolen on holiday, as I cancelled it with my name and he ordered the new one under his name 🤦🏼♀️
