Bad eater

Is anyone else’s 1 year old a bad eater? Mine just doesn’t eat, he has a few mouthfuls/spoonfuls and that’s it he wants out of the high chair and doesn’t want anything other than snacks snacks snacks snacks snacks. Or potatoes. I’m going crazy here as I’ve limited snacks, changed meal times, even added slightly more seasoning to make his food taste better but nothing works. Any advice? 😩

Well. My boy wasn't but suddenly is. He will have a few mouthfuls and then get silly. Or chew it then take it out 😭

Mine has been lately x

@Em do you just give up feeding and call it a day? I still breastfeed my little one but I just do it before nap times and bedtime so I’m sure that can’t affect it. Not sure what to do

My little boy is the same 😫 he’ll eat crisps and biscuits forever and will cry until he gets yoghurt but no interest in anything else. I’ve tried like you to change mealtimes etc but nothings working so far! I’m hoping it’s just a phase but he’s never been a great eater anyway but he’s never been this bad!!

Try taking them out of the high chair and feeding them as they play. I put the plate of say lunch together and pop it on the floor and he picks at it as he plays. I find he’s too ‘busy’ to sit in the high chair and eat a meal but he will eat while he goes about his day x

Yep! We did see an improvement when we started iron supplements but now he’s teething and has a cough & cold and appetite has completely gone again!

Are you still feeding him dinner or is he feeding himself? Our little girl got a bit funny about dinner but eats lunch happily so we started leaving the food on her plate or tray and she eats all her dinner again cause she can feed herself. One old trick for 'picky eaters' is having food play in the day where there's no obligation to eat the food but they can explore the textures and if they eat it fine if not it doesn't matter. You could try putting one bit of food on the tray at a time so it's less overwhelming then a big plate and eating your dinner at the same time so they can see you eating or put their food on your plate so they think they are eating your dinner 😂 apparently other people's food is always yummy x
