Is it unsanitary/unsafe?

I have a couple strays around my trailer and I feed them (there's 3) and I often let one of them in and she even sleeps w me sometimes. There's 2 little kittens that I also sometimes let in. I feel weird telling people that I let them in bc I don't know if it could be seen as gross or unsafe for my 2 yr old. He also pets them inside and outside and the one he particularly likes/is drawn to let's him pick him up and move him around w/o being bothered I have no issue w it but his paternal grandma gives me dirty looks when I mention the kitties in my house šŸ„²

i personally donā€™t see that big of deal. i would just be worried about maybe fleas or ticks. i live with my MIL and thereā€™s been a cat that has been coming around her entire life and they would let her in sometimes. when i lived with my mom we made sure to always feed the stray kitties. they would hang out on our patio and look at our cats through the sliding glass dooršŸ˜‚ we wouldnā€™t let them in because we had our own cats and didnā€™t want to risk anything. our cats never had a problem with the other cats hanging around either.

As long as they don't scratch or bite, you and ur baby are fine. I had a dog for 19 years and she was only vaccinated till her first year of life, 18 years no vaccines and completely healthy dog.

Watching for fleas and other parasites would be mostly what I would do. Also sounds like you all are getting attached. Might be time to adopt!

Internal parasites could be an issue but that's if they are locking their mouth and touching their feces. My only issue would be if they don't have their rabies vaccines. There should be a spay/neuter facility in your area that if you trap them, they will spay/neuter and vaccinate for free. if they come in contact with something with rabies then that could be of concern. I had a client come in with their miniature pinscher.. only vaccinated once for rabies. Got in a tussle with a Raccoon who had rabies... the dog started showing signs of rabies in our hospital... we waited for 3 days and we sent it to a specialist, and they still had to euthanize.. tested rabies positive and then the owner and one of our staff who wasnt vaccinated had to get his rabies shots afterwards. Some animals who aren't vaccinated get LUCKY.... BUT I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND NOT TO VACCINATE AN OUTDOOR ANIMAL. This is coming from someone that's seen it and is rabies vaccinated themselves.

If you really want to continue this and feel better about it, claim them as your cats. Get them fleaā€™d, wormed & vaccinated? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø that way they are safe and taken care of! They seem to be yours already so take the extra steps and that way if anyone asks just say they are your cats and they have x, y & z done! šŸ¤
