I flew just a few hours at 29 weeks and was SO uncomfortable. Definitely more tired/low energy the whole trip as well but for me personally the flight itself was the worst part just due to the physical discomfort.
I flew from Illinois to Florida at 28 weeks and I was not comfortable on the plane at all. Like suddenly nauseous and over heating and dizzy. Bathrooms that pregnant were not fun on a plane..
I’m going on a 3hr flight at 30 weeks and yeah not looking forward to that but I won’t be travelling after that except for a few hours in the car when we land. I’d be more anxious about being in a new place without familiar hospital at that point, make sure you have insurance and that you know where the nearest hospital is just in case
I flew from the U.K. to NYC for a busy week with friends at 27 weeks and was absolutely fine, I just made sure to move around the plane and get an aisle seat. At 29 weeks I flew to Austria, also without issue. My partner and I then flew 2.5 hrs at 33 weeks for a babymoon in Ibiza and we were still walking lots and adventuring. I would say it’s very personal depends on your pregnancy and energy levels. Nothing is a given and can change. I would say make sure you have good travel insurance that covers pregnancy and pre-term labour in an emergency, also check with the airline and get a fit to fly letter from your doctor if required! X
I'd just check with your doctor and the airlines policies! Some airlines don't want pregnant women on long haul flights after certain weeks due to risk of labor starting. But if it's not against their rules and your doctor is okay with it, I was still comfortable at 28-30 weeks and would have been willing to fly!!! 34+ weeks is when I started feeling uncomfortable all the time 😂
I travelled internationally at 26 weeks pregnant and it was totally fine. I felt really good in late second trimester/early third trimester. Everyone is different though, so it’s hard to predict. I would consider the quality of healthcare in your destination country though. It’s very unlikely something would go wrong. But if it did you’d likely need NICU care.
I am currently in Mexico at 29 weeks pregnant. Travelled from US. I was somewhat scared before the trip (booked before I got pregnant) but everything was completely fine! Just drink tons of water on your flight
Did a 7 hour flight at 28 weeks. I felt fine. Wear compression socks and make sure to get an aisle seat for easy bathroom access!
I am a flight attendant, and would not recommend. I've seen too many medical emergencies that late in the pregnancy...it isn't good for the body whatsoever. Ive been doing this for 28 yrs, and a Mom 2 two kiddos. 15 and 4....I would have never flown at that stage in either of my pregnancies. Best of luck.
I traveled from Germany to the US at 29 weeks. Personally, I was exhausted and low on energy! It depends on your energy level and how long the flight will be. I did get up and walked around during the flight.
