Cutting overnight bottles

My daughter is 20 months old and LOVES her night time bottle. I want to cut this tonight (we kept it for so long because 1. we didn’t have it in us to overcome the hurdle yet and 2. We had a big overseas trip planned & wanted to keep it as a comfort measure). I know she’ll probably need extra comfort and reassurance but any other specific tips and tricks? I’m thinking to offer her a cup of cow’s milk to start with so it’s not as a huge sudden change, and putting it in a cup will hopefully over time make her understand there’s no more bottles

My four year old has a very small half sippy cup of cows milk at night, sometimes during the day if he asks for it or really can’t settle if hurt and usually in the mornings. It’s his comfort. He still eats, drinks water and has good teeth. Or less you absolutely have to get rid of the milk. I wouldn’t. They’ll give it up when ready.’ Maybe just start offering milk in a sippy cup or cup instead.

@Ebony thanks Ebony for the advice ☺️ I should have specified she’s having formula at night, recently started giving her cow’s drink to drink in a cup during the day every now and then and she seems to like it. So wanting to transition off the bottle of formula :)

My 21month was still getting a bottle of EBM but we ran out last week. I told him for a week that milk was running out, the day of the last bottle that this is his last milk, and then after the milk that night we talked about it being all gone/finished. Was stopped cold turkey, no replacement, he asked for it for two nights, but was surprisingly understanding when we said it was all gone. No tantrums or issues with sleep. We did incorporate a magnesium spray lev massage on the first night with no bottle which maybe helped too?

@Amelia that’s amazing 🙌🏻 so glad it went so well. Fingers crossed we have similar success 😆 I didn’t think to actually talk to her about this changing, they do understand so much x

There's no problem if they still wanna have a bottle imo so long as you keep teeth hugiene good. Mine refused to stop till 2.5 y then finally accepted cow milk. Now at 3 y it's at 120mls at night then teeth hygiene. The formula is annoying to make tho lol 🤣🤣 try using less and less formula and replace with preferred milk then slowly introduce the cup. Mine started asking what's wrong w the milk till 1 day after a taste she said nope that's not her milk
