@Jami thank you!! Xx
Most insurers don’t have a c section clause and it’s mainly down to if your dr is happy for you to drive. Ultimately, if you feel well enough and if you can withstand an emergency stop with your scar, then you should be fine. It’s not like your insurer is going to phone you to check!
@Lucy DR would need to put it in writing if they were happy. Insurance won’t call to check but if an accident happened and a claim went in they would look at any medical history that is relevant. Individual choice, and likelihood of an accident is minimal thankfully but it’s to be considered at the risk of rupturing the scar. I was advised by GP and HV to not drive for 6 weeks x
It’s your insurances “rules” I phoned mine before the surgery and they said as long as you feel well and as long as there was no complications that made your doctor say don’t drive then it’s down to you when you want to drive again x
@Jami but surely this would happen as a passenger too?
I work in insurance and they absolutely can invalidate it if you drive before 6 weeks or sign off - it happens alotttttt! So definitely get signed off!
@Katie it could but as you wouldnt be the driver, the claim wouldn’t be with you named as the driver. If you haven’t been cleared yet and drive and something happened then there could be difficulties with the insurance, hence why I said originally it’s best to check with the insurance company for clarification what their policy is as many will differ 😊 x
Thank you so much everyone! I think I’ll leave it til I’m 6 weeks (just to be on the safe side) Thank you again ❤️xx
You need to check with your insurance company. You might feel fine to drive, but if you got into an accident (god forbid) the impact can cause the seatbelt to rupture your scar which is why most insurance companies won’t cover you for the first 6 weeks. So double check x
