Weaning

Hey my baby has just turned 6 months old, did u just try your baby’s on food as soon as they turned 6 months. Personally I don’t think he’s ready but I’m not entirely sure he can’t sit up get on his own and is still fine on his milk but he has started to drop the amount he drinks but doesn’t cry or anything and doesn’t seem hungry. Just wanting some advice 🤍🤍

Trust your gut only you know your child. You LO does not need to sit on his own to be able to wean. They just need to not slump in their chair.

I started weening my now 8 month old when she was 17 weeks old because of her having a milk allergy I was told by dietitian that I could start early. I haven’t been consistent with giving her baby food. Could always try some food and see how it goes

NHS website states that baby must be able to sit unaided and hold their head steadily. If they can’t do that then they aren’t quite ready yet. 6 months is just the guidance it may take them a little longer and there’s no issue with that!

No need to rush into it if your Bub doesn’t seem ready. And at that age you wouldn’t be decreasing milk intake at all. We started right on 6 months as my littles ones were both interested in food at that age and were sitting up, but they just started with tasting different foods rather than consuming much at all. I just gave them a chunk of something and let them have a suck

we did at like 6.5-7 months. i waited until she was better at sitting up and felt more ready. trust your mom intuition, you don’t have to start as soon as they hit 6mo but i wouldn’t wait tooo long either
