Breastfeeding + Pumping. Do I always do both?

I am EBF but have been sometimes pumping the other side while baby feeds/30 min after. I’m just stashing the extra milk in the freezer for now but it is becoming exhausting. Should I keep pumping the side not being fed on to keep my supply up, or is alternating baby to each side every other feed good enough?

I would catch my let down on the other side while baby nursed to build a small stash.

That’s what I have been doing but I wanted to purposely create an oversupply

If your supply is good ie baby feeds well and you have enough milk for every feed you don't have to pump the other side while baby is feeding. When baby was newborn and cluster feeding she would occasionally feed from both sides. Now she's older- 10 months I will offer baby both boobs if she's hungry but most feeds she's full just on one side. You could start to use a Hakka instead so it's a lot gentler. But I personally gave found alternating is enough for a good supply and my lactation consultants agreed. However I know there's a difference of opinion (!) Just be careful if you do stop pumping to do it gradually or use a hakka and then reduce slowly so as not to cause engorgement

You don’t have to pump at all.
