Try your local children's centre most of them should have benefits advisor attached to them who can see you personally on a one to one at your local centre or phonecall, I know mine is running a coffee session. They are a great resource, they are able to check your details and give you specific advice and guidance.
It’s done on monthly income- so as long as your partner (and you) are both earning over a certain amount, but earning less than £100k, you’d be eligible. Dividends etc don’t count towards the minimum income, but they are included as part of working out your adjusted net income.
I'd ring citizens advice x
@Amanta yep citizens advice is a great shout, my mum volunteers as a citizens advice advisor so she has been an amazing help for me, just give them a call and they will help you for free 😀
If your husband has a company his accountant would be able to answer these questions
Ask your nursery
My husband also a company director, the rules are the same for all so as long as total income (including dividends etc) is less than 100k you are entitled to the childcare free hours and tax free childcare. The only different we have found is that my husband has been asked each quarter to reconfirm his salary / income (where as I haven’t) Happy to private message if easier as we have spent SO long trying to work out the most cost / tax efficient way of doing things
I rang the HMRC childcare line when I had some questions and they were really helpful 0300 123 4097
Not sure if I’ve done it correctly as I didn’t take into consideration takings, I did it based on monthly income/salary rather than anything on top that my partner receives from his Ltd company 🙈🤣 mainly because this isn’t the same every year or a set amount etc. however they’ve accepted my application and my kids have been receiving the free funding and tax free child care since September 🤷🏼♀️ they have his NI number so I’m assuming they must have some insight into his earnings. I think there’s an eligibility checker online so always worth inputting the info you have and seeing what it comes out with!
