I have this, I found out at 26 weeks and touch wood everything has been fine so far. Baby is growing all good. My baby was head down when I found out and he’s now moved since and also feeling pressure! Im getting re-tested at 36 weeks because you can have it 1 week and it’s gone the next. I was panicking at first but after seeing my midwife it was a massive reassurance xx
I haven't any advice on strep B, but there's never anything wrong with being prepared and having even a small birth bag prepared and ready to go. It'll probably take off some stress for you to know it's there if you need it, which hopefully you won't 🥰
Thankyou girls 🩷
I carry strep B (seem to have for years) but wouldn’t say that I’ve suffered from it. I didn’t really experience any symptoms that I was aware of. It meant that I had to have an IV drip of antibiotics during labour - which I was able to have in the Birth Centre and able to have a water birth (these were things I didn’t think I’d be able to have with Strep B) I gave birth at 39 weeks..which isn’t preterm. I’m thinking about when to pack the hospital bag too! Last time I packed it when I started feeling contractions, so literally the day before I gave birth. And honestly it wasn’t a problem..the only downside was my TENS machine hadn’t arrived yet. I think I’m gonna casually start filling a bag now, but I’m not planning on bringing it everywhere with me..probably will put it in the car the week before my due date.
I had strep B with my first born (2.5 years ago) , I was tested during labour at Triage and the test came back positive (they were doing clinical trials in my hospital at the time, where they were testing every woman who went into labour). The only difference it made was I wasn’t able to use the pool for birthing , as I had to get out and be on the bed to have the IV antibiotics , you are given the antibiotics in labour every four hours. Because my labour was over 10 hours, I had two lots of IV antibiotics. You also have to stay in for monitoring for a minimum of 12 hours after birth. I went into labour at 40+5. I hope this helps ☺️
My mum had strep B with her pregnancies, I know that they put you iv antibiotics during labour and my mums always had normal births and babies always been happy and healthy x
