Advice needed !

Hi I’m looking for some advice ! I’m a mom with three kids fleeing domestic violence I have been placed in temporary accommodation and we have nothing apart from the clothing on our backs my family support worker is coming to see me in a few days to help me apply for universal credit but until then we have nothing. Can anybody give us advice on where to go and ask for help? I’m heartbroken I don’t know what to do for my kids. Please any advice is much appreciated thanks in advance.

Speak to your health visitor (if you still have one). They can advise on a local charity to help with clothes and toy etc. I hope you find everything you need ❤️

Can you try things like food banks? I’m not sure where you are but apps like Olio are great- people giving stuff away for free and you can post things that you are wanting :) x

Contact Shelter England, Citizens Advice Bureau, or your Housing Officer x

My health visitor is coming to see me on Monday to help me apply for uc I’m in Barnet London can I just approach the food banks myself or do I need to be referred I really don’t know where to turn to and i never taught I would be in the position where I would have to visit a food banks but I have no other choice I will donate back to them when I am back on my feet again please god x

You might need to be referred. Contact your Gp. Citizens advice. Or get your health visitor to send the referral. You can’t wait until Monday. In my area we have local community fb groups where people can post for help and everyone is very generous. It also gets local charities tagged and they often offer to help. It might be worth doing that in your area?

How old are your children? I have some clothes for babies x

Hey Ashley, bless you, I know it's awful now but all will be okay. Three months ago this was me my partner and baby. You can call uc and apply to get appointment to sign on You will also apply for housing benefit to cover temporary accommodation You will be able to go to grocery aid and food banks, you can go and get first parcel just registering then get referal from your local council by calling them and asking for such You can also get a £50 emergency food and children's supply voucher for a supermarket by calling your council and asking for such Try see if local super market nearby and shops where you can try getting reduced ready to eat items to save money Also tell local business cafes pubs hotels etc you are homeless and they will be kind to help often You will eventually be put into short stay accommodation and the be able to start bidding on properties, the rent will be covered and you'll get by with your children I hope you get sorted, if you would like to chat I'm all ears, my inbox is open

I'm so glad you've escaped and you are putting you and your kids first, that takes guts and courage and alot more, most people stay suffer but luckily you are out and you will be on top soon, don't let life beat you down, chin up. Be super mum for your little ones, time to get the good life

Hi Ashley, I'm so happy for you that you have escaped what sounds like a really bad situation. I'm sorry I'm only reading this now, I hope you managed to find some clothes and food in the meantime. If you let me know what kind of food you need and your closest super market (tesco/sainsbury's), I'd be happy to place an order for you to collect. Please don't hesitate to ping me
