Yeah, she always goes in the toilet with me and daddy (he's SAHP so sometimes necessary!), like I said she understands what's happening, but she cries if we ask her to sit down when she's peeing or pooping, she's so used to going in her nappy. She only "copies" us if she doesn't actually need to go.
With my first child we got a family toilet seat where the smaller size one flipped down from the lid. Worked really well with him, he toilet trained straight onto it & only used a potty when out somewhere with no nearby toilets. He used it until we moved to a house with a square toilet that it wouldn't fit on. With my 22mo we have one you put on top of the toilet. He likes sitting on it & has recently started to finish his poo on the toilet! But no wees yet. They have similar in the toddler room at his nursery so hopefully that will help when we do full on toilet training. I do miss the ease and space efficiency of our family seat though!
Sounds like we might be better off getting integrated/detachable seat and a separate footstool that we can use for other things as well 😊 thank you everyone!
I need help with potty training as I am trying to potty train my daughter she has only done something on the potty but hasn’t done anything since
@Alisha Cryer yeah I've got nothing. She pooped once on the potty, was very stressed the whole time, and is scared of it 😭 hence figuring out a different setup for her to try again.
@Helen I am too
Hey, my daughter loves to copy me and when I’ve been home alone with her she’s always come to the toilet with me so I can still see her so from her watching us and me telling her what I’m doing she’s understood it and enjoys going. The toddler toilet seat can get in the way but you can get an attachment for a toddler that clips onto your seat and it flips up. Maybe give that a go and then add a foldable step so that doesn’t get in the way either x
