Why are mommy and me classes so much?? Help

I know California is expensive, but why are these mommy and me groups hundreds of dollars for a couple classes. I have been dealing with PPD PPA and been recommended numerous times to join mommy and me groups. Problem is the ones I can find are hella expensive or very out of budget (or too far for me to drive with a baby who hates car rides) I am on disability still so my income is fixed with little to no flexibility. Back home in the Midwest where I am from they are sooo much more affordable. I don’t get why we are trying to make so much $ off of mom’s. Does anyone else feel this way or Am I missing something? I’m in the South Bay Area specifically. Any recommendations that are affordable would be appreciated as well.

Damn if you were in San Diego I would have a really great place you could go- I hope you find a low cost place you just have to really search in my experience. I go to a lot of mom walk events and that was how I found my mommy and me class I’m currently taking.

Libraries usually have story time for free.

@Tatiana whats the place called in sd?

@Tatiana where in SD?

Fit4mom Campbell willow Glen is pretty affordable! They do free playgroup and walks. They offer different packages for mommy and me workouts

I own sol full enrichment and it’s a lot of prepping and buying materials idk what’s considered expensive but my classes are $25

Sometimes we have to buy insurance and permits

@Tatiana what is the name of the group in San Diego if you don’t mind me asking?

same here!

@Celes this is affordable!! Is it per class? I’ll send you a message. I just followed on instagram

Hi! I would HIGHLY recommend a home visiting program. They pair you up with a Parent Educator who comes into your home once or twice a month to do activities and discuss child development. They also have great information about PPD and focus on family well being. They can also help connect you to resources in the community.

Not everyone qualifies for Home Visiting I used to be a home visitor and enrichment classes give a chance for kiddos and mommy to socialize and mommies a break mentally. Children learn both ways but it’s important to be social in this climate

Great!!! Message me @SeaSea

@Celes do home visitors care if your house is messy?

Not at all just there to educate mommy or dad or family

Check out Richstone Family Center in Hawthorne. I’ve never actually been to their facility but I’ve taken many of their zoom parenting classes (I believe they were $15 at the time), and they used to have a free mommy and me class at least once a week. Also, contact Harbor Regional Center in Torrance. Actually I would call them first. They have an amazing mommy and me class that is in person that is 100% free. You do have to sign up ahead of time so they know how many people are attending. But all their services are free.

@Briana om baby bliss. They have a lot of different mommy & me type of classes and a lot of different packages. (I take their mommy & me Pilates. I think my package is 40 a month and you get to take like 4 Pilates classes a week I think and there’s a couple other perks I can’t remember right now
