Also a good probiotic like bio Gaia drops can work wonders too the dietician at alderhey recommended it to me and both of mine have had it daily since birth It’s a long old slog and it’s awful when baby doesn’t take to the formula my LG was like this.. you can try the formula alone with a few drops of alcohol free vanilla this was suggested to me again by specialist feeding team at alderhey My lg was put on nutramigen puramino first and wouldn’t tolerate it if it continues ask for neocate as that’s the most widely accepted amino acid milk in infants! xxxx
Sorry for my huge messages but if you need any suggestions etc inbox me! It’s rough seeing your child upset and in pain I understand entirely If noones told you recently… You got this mama! xxxx
We tried EVERYTHING and the one thing that worked with Kendamil goats milk stage 3 as she’s now a toddler but they do stage 1-3 you can buy it online at boots or directly from Kendamil x
@Leah-Shannon thank you so much for this ❤️ it is long term problems that is worrying me so I am going to stick with it. My gp is terrible so I have ordered some carobel and will see how she gets on and then request it from them. She spits out so much so she definitely needs something to thicken it. My hv said if she doesn’t take this milk then we will have to see a dietician who will prescribe neocate as it apparently has to be done through them.
@Leah-Shannon I really appreciate your response and kind words ❤️
@Hope I waa considering this actually. I will have to look into it more, thank you 😊
@Lauryn we hv neocate through gp we haven't been referred to the dietitian yet....unless each area does it differently. We originally on pepti 1 but she still have symptoms so the hv emailed gp to prescribed amino acid based n the gp prescribed us neocate straightaway.
I had a really similar experience to Sharron, we were on Aptamil Pepti 1 for two weeks and had no change in symptoms so we went to the gp and he prescribed an amino acid formula which had been great for us. They say to stick it out for two weeks, which I did with the Pepti 1, but I knew in my gut it wasn’t making any difference within about 3 days. It might be you need an amino acid formula rather than a different brand of hydrolysed formula… also I’ve tried gaviscon and now carobel and imo I think carobel is better, we’re weaning now so I’m cutting down the use of carobel but I did find it very helpful! If you’re worried about constipation you can try putting in less than the recommended dose to start with and building it up, that’s what we did and it worked well!
As of yesterday I finally got her switched fully onto the normal milk with carobel added 🥳 she slept 11 hours through the night and didn’t wake up with a bad so I think that’s a good sign! Hoping it continues as she already sounds less congested and hasn’t had a sneezing fit yet today either 😁 Thank you all for your advice. I will continue to monitor it and go back to gp if necessary ☺️
We are on neocate with carobel and it’s not made my son constipated I was worried about that as my lg ended up on a stool softener it’s awful as allergy milks are thinner which makes reflux worse then you need a thickener to stop that with causes constipation it’s an endless cycle.. I would ask GP for carobel to try.. I’d advise against keeping your little girl on regular formula if she’s allergic as it can cause digestive problems for life xxxx
