I am declining my gestational diabetes test.
@Incognito why? 🤔
I believe it’s regulation to notify the mum within 48 hours if they have tested positive for GD. Eat the balls! 😂😅
In my first pregnancy I was told after 36 hours. I tested negative in this second pregnancy at 16 weeks and they didn’t notify me. I called up the following week and they said they will only call to let you know the results if positive xx
@Jess Firstly, it gives me too much anxiety thinking about having to fast for so long and then having a super sweet drink (which you normally wouldn't have that much sugar in one go anyway) and then having to fast again. I just know myself and I know that I'll most likely be sick or feel dizzy, as many mums have been and some have actually had seizures or fainted. Secondly, I never had this in my first pregnancy, they just took a blood test in the morning after fasting so if that was good enough for them why can't they do the same again? Thirdly, if you read on the official gov uk website, the national screening committee does not even recommend having screening for gestational diabetes as they don't believe the risks outweigh the benefits.

At what point did they mention it to you? I’m 24 weeks and nobody has said anything about it to me.
@Kathryn I was only told today at my 25 week app. but knew it was coming due to my BMI at booking appointment
They usually test for it between 24-28 weeks but only if you’re deemed high risk or had it before. Many of you won’t need the test if there’s no reason to suggest you’re high risk. I was screened last pregnancy and the test and drink are absolutely fine, nothing to worry about. I will be screened again this time at 25 weeks.
I had mines done two days ago and they never called me, she said that means I’m negative and this has been confirmed by my midwife who I saw yesterday for a checkup appointment. The nurse doing the test told me if it was positive they would be in touch ASAP to get a treatment plan in place so I’m certain you will be negative and can eat those balls 😂
Have you got badger notes? On the reports it should say the results on there but like you say if you’ve chased & nothing I’d assume you’re ok. Especially with it being over a week. But in the mean time eat those balls 😂
I'm pretty much in the same boat, I'm guessing no result yet means it must not be positive. I'd eat them and cross that bridge later 😊
I was told no news is good news when I had mine last week 😂😂

Sorry if I panicked anyone. I’m not sure everyone needs to do the test. I did it because I’m over 35 and diabetes runs in my family. Also UPDATE!!! No diabetes. Got an email earlier. I ate the Lindt!!! 🤗🤗
Also if you do the test it’s no biggie. You fast from midnight, do 3 blood tests over 2 hours and drink a sugary drink. I was ready to hit the gym after the drink, then by the end I was ready to nap 😂
@Kelly It must be different across the UK as mine was fasting from 10pm & had to have two blood tests. Im glad it came back all ok 🎉
I just did mine today, I’ve had such bad heartburn all day but hoping it comes back negative 🤞🏻
I was told that they would be in touch within a few days if anything was wrong and I had diabetes… so no news good news I’d say?!! I didn’t hear from them at all after it, a week later I had a midwife appt and she told me my tests came back fine.
I’d say eat the Lint😂 life it too short.. but no seriously, like you say if there was an issue i’m sure they would have let you know by now. Anyway enjoy!🤣xx
