Baby routine

Hi everyone, I’m a first time mum of a little girl who is 3 weeks old. I’ve no idea about routines but at what age should I start thinking about 1 for nighttime?

You can start whenever you want but babies don’t really learn routines until around 4 months. When my baby was around 8 weeks I started to do the same morning and evening routine and she is now 18 weeks and I think she knows what to expect so it helps especially with bed time

Thank you, I think I will try this too. We had good nights and bad nights with sleep - she has gone though a phase of cluster feeding and not wanting to be put down so I’m hoping in a few weeks a routine will help.

Huge congratulations! Honestly, they get you into a routine organically. Don’t think about it too much, just be led by her feeding cues and sleeping cues. She’ll probably be napping most of the day at this age so towards the end of the day do what feels right. At this age, I used to let mine sleep on me from about 6pm. I didn’t do much, not even bath, just let him be close. From about 6-8 weeks you’ll probably feel like a routine is coming together. I’d say just go with the cues for now, at this age they can fit into whatever routine you already have really

We started a routine of milk, bath and bed from 8 weeks. From 8 weeks - 4 months she was the best sleeper then we sleep trained using ferber method at 5 months as she was unsettled during the night because of the dummy. Enjoy the lack of routine now because once they get into one you are a little bit more restricted. And congrats on your bundle of joy, enjoy it and I hope you are doing ok! The first 4 weeks for me were wild, I cried every day 🤣 xx
