Some tips for home. Once sterilised in a steam steriliser (Like the tommee tippee ones) the bottles will be wet, This is completely fine, don't wipe them or try to dry them as by doing so you are unintentionally unsterilising them. It is fine to make formula directly in the bottle or add breast milk. Bottles remain sterile inside the steriliser for ~12 hours If the lid is not removed. but use your best judgement. If you have the time just pop them back in. The lids create an airtight seal around the teat. Again it's up to you as a parent but you could prepare a bottle in advance by pouring in some boiled water and sealing the bottle. This should last a few hours. Note the outside of the bottle will not be sterile, but everything the baby touches will be.
best of luck 💖
As for dummies, it's unlikely that your baby will need one at the hospital. They sleep a lot and are only really awake to feed. You can get small UV dummy sterilisers which we have found really useful for the occasional time we have used one. Our 1 week old has probably only used it 2 or 3 times for 5 minutes while we are getting ready to feed
For hospital I bought the ready to drink packs with the bottles and tits so I don't have to carry my normal bottles
Just use the ready to use ‘starter packs’ for hospital. The tests are readily sterilised and only 1 use so you throw them away. Costly but it’s only short term and so much easier. You buy them in packs of 6 so I’d get 2 packs - maybe leave one in the car. Nightmare trying to sterilise at hospital!
Hiya, congratulations. As soon as you open the steriliser you should be using the bottles. Nothing stays sterile once exposed to the air. All we can do as parents is the best we can. So there is no point in sterilising your bottles before you are using them. in regards to the hospital, they should have facilities for you to sterilise, clean and warm milk.
