C section

Why are c-sections spoken about so negatively?

I think historically (due to not being accessible/offered as elective and other factors) its been seen as the 'easy way out' and the 'not natural way' . But 50% of births are c section now! 25% of those being elective. Medical practice and after care has also drastically improved so whilst still a major surgery I think the risk factors involved and knowledge around it makes it much 'less scary' and not just an emergency procedure/last resort which it was for many. Funnily enough some countries (like SA) have a long history of mainly doing csection elective births over vaginal so definitely cultural/geographical differences in opinions too

No idea I'm going to be having my 3rd in Jan lol 2nd one was such a lovely experience

Due to the severe recovery❤️‍🩹

People have opinions on everything! I genuinely keep thinking about it but recognise it's major surgery so that does worry me. I don't see them as negative at all, or an easier option! I guess for people who didn't want one and had one, that could be seen as negative. And the potentially longer recovery etc.

Yes it is major surgery, but my first birth was more painful and more traumatic than a planned section, my first recovery (natural birth) was 12 weeks to even walk again. I don’t see them as negative, maybe the people who are negative are the ill informed I had my section booked today x

Everyone has an opinion and sadly in my experience it’s jealousy. I had a section (2nd one in 3 weeks and super excited) and I loved it! I was in Costco day 5, took public transport home and was off all meds and mending after that first week. By week 6 I was doing yoga again, no “shelf” or scarring issues, by 9 weeks travelling to Australia. Not all sections are trauma or emergency, not all surgeons are equally skilled and all our bodies heal differently. My friend on the other hand had a very traumatic vaginal birth and she said I “cheated” and didn’t do it the “proper” way. That girl was wheeled out in a wheelchair and needed bladder prolapse surgery! I just can’t understand how mums in this day and age 💩 on each other because someone didn’t have to suffer their fate too.

I guess everyone has very different experiences which lead them to feel one way or another. I don’t have an opinion but I know people who have had them who had really bad recoveries. Each labour, c section or natural, is going to be so different

I haven’t had a c-sec so can’t speak from experience but I don’t really understand why people make stupid comments, the baby has to come out somehow?! Does it really matter how we all choose/end up doing it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m electing for a c section. I’ve had lots of people try and scare me away from it but I’m too strong willed and know what I want. For me I think it’s the better option. At the end of the day it’s your own body and your own choice. When people say it’s the easy way out, it’s major surgery and by no means an ‘easy’ option. Do what’s right for you 🫶🏻
