Eating

My lo can eat and eat and eat, so much beige (he has been consistently and still is at every meal exposed to fruit/veg etc and will eat the odd thing) but yesterday by lunchtime he had 2 crumpets and 2 boiled eggs, a bit of toast a banana, 2 blueberry pancakes and some plain pasta. Does anyone else kids eat like this? He isn’t overweight at all but has always been a bit stocky the same as his dad. He asks for more food and I can’t not give it to him - is this correct? Obviously I’m not going to load him up on sweets and chocolate but he’s definitely gone off healthy food and is in his beige era. I wonder when enough is enough or is it not? Confused mum over here!

My daughter is the same. We give her more, when she ask for more, but we make sure what we offer if healthy (95% if the time). She’s always been a hungry girl and we let her eat 😅

I would recommend following Kids Eat In Colour on Instagram for ideas around fruit/veg exposure and combatting picky eating. Can your son help you prepare/chop fruit and veg? Will he eat veg in things? We’ve been working on cutting with my 2yo and now he proudly eats beans because he cut them up whereas before it was a bit hit and miss. Can you make things into a game - what sound does this crunchy pepper make? Can you find the spirals on the cauliflower? Also seasoning, we make sure all our veg are well seasoned just not with salt and I think that it’s a lot more appealing to have stir fried broccoli than boiled for example. In the beige end, are there things you could try swapping in and out? Can you cook the pasta in stock to add extra nutrients? Swap bread for wholemeal? I don’t think you should ever restrict food if possible - sounds like he isn’t eating a bad diet so try not to stress too much! You’re doing a great job 🩷

Our little girl has about 5 breakfasts 🙈🤣 she’s the same asking for more, she’s been the same for months now but when it comes to lunch time she’s not as hungry x
