Signs of weaning readiness

Anyone else's LO showing signs of being ready for solids? My LG is o ly 4.5 months and I wanted to wait until 6months but she is showing so much interest in food, reaching for it, watching us eating.

I let my little one try tastes. She's just over 4.5 months. Just the tiniest bits. I plan to give her her first "meal" on Christmas day. She will be 5 months and 9 days.

Showing an interest in food isn’t classed as a sign of being ready anymore. They will reach and be interested in lots of things at this age

Agree with @Lauryn it is not a sign. Let them keep observing and see if they tick other signs of readiness per NHS guidelines

My little one is 4.5 months and gets breakfast lunch and dinner. Started weaning at 3.5 months as he had been constipated for weeks and only pooing every 6/9 days since he’s been eating he’s had a poo every day since. I also felt he was ready as he was always watching me eat and showing all signs he was ready. So if you feel your little one isn’t ready then go for it. As with my situation, it just proves they don’t get everything they need in there milk. My little one is formula fed

I started at 4.5 months and so glad I did x

As others have said, interest in food is not a sign of readiness The NHS readiness quiz is here: https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/baby/weaning/ready-or-not-weaning-quiz/

Yes my baby does this too but as the above have said reaching out etc is just mimicking behaviours, not a sign that they are ready for food. If they are doing well on their milk and you’ve had no recommendations to wean early I would personally wait until 6 months as there is no need to give food before this age (unless a medical professional has said so). That being said you know your baby best and it’s an individual choice :)! x

My first I started tiny things to taste puréed at 4.5 months I also did cold fruit in these food dummy’s as I was sure he was ready and he was sitting up, it worked out ok. My second is not ready he is showing interest but I don’t believe he will be ready at 6 months either

My LG is 5 months now. She showed all the signs by 4 months and HV signed off on it. I tried her at 4.5 months. She had broccoli one day and carrot the next. She then had stomach issues so I made the decision to stop and give her extra time. Every baby is different.
