First time driving with baby

Hey What age was your baby when you first drove with them in car by yourself? Im feeling really nervous to drive with my LG in car by myself but my family live in north London and I’m in west which is at least 45min drive. My baby has colic at the moment and scared she’ll cry or become unsettled mid journey….

I started from 1 week after birth almost every day up until now 10 months. Just do it as soon as you feel comfortable as they need to get used it. I have changed 2 baby seats so far as I want my baby to be as comfy as possible. Every baba is different, of course, but mine doesn't give me any issue as it's a very soothing environment the car xx

About 5 days old but was only like 15 mins to a friends house. Most babies sleep in the car though, it sends mine right to sleep. If worried you could break it into two halves and stop at a Costa or something to feed and change.

I was 6 weeks postpartum but that was only because I wanted to fully heal after surgery before driving. If she’s colic and you don’t have help to travel, the family should really be coming to you though hun. Whether that’s in the car, the bus, the tube. You and baby are the priority xx

6 weeks pp as I had a c section but would of been straight away if not. They will cry and scream I’m ngl but try to leave after a feed and burp x

Like 3 weeks old.

The day after she got out of hospital. Single mum so had no choice! It gets easier the more you do it

Solo 1 month.

Two weeks, do a few little spins before you make a big journey to get used to it and feel less anxious. Get a baby mirror so you can see her

The first health visitor appointment, I think it’s when they’re a week old? That’s the first time I drove her. She was more settled then than she is now at nearly 2 😂

Nearly two weeks old. I was really nervous about it but I think that would have been true whether he was two days or two weeks or two months… it’s just the kind of thing you have to bite the bullet and do. Maybe start with a shorter journey as a trial first 😊

@Martina thanks. I think I need to just do it. I do think the car seat I’ve got might uncomfortable for her so I maybe I’ll look at others.

@Robyn yeah breaking it up might work. Thank you

@Sarah they do come to be honest. I think it’s more for me to know I’m not stuck and feeling isolated

@Lauryn yeah I think I’m going to have to just get on with it and just prepare

@Siobhan 😂

Almost 3 months as I couldn’t drive for the first 2 then felt nervous & wasn’t sure her car seat would get in the back of my car. It did! And I felt so proud of myself. Go for a short drive first then see how you feel 🙂

With my first i didn’t learn to drive until she was 3 1/2 years old. With my second I drove the day after having him as I had to get my daughter to preschool 😂😂

If you are in the UK, just pop to SMYTHS with the baby to actually try them. They'll help you find the best one, and you'll see for yourself if baby looks comfy anyways x

My daughter hated the first 10 min of car rides so I used to have her in the passenger seat next to me with the airbag off of course. And I always had a ready heated bottle to give her and she used to sleep
