It's crazy, isn't it! They're learning so fast.

@Caroline literally blows my mind.

It’s lovely to see isn’t it! Shocking what just 3 months can do 🤯 like when they started it was learning how each letter sounded out and now they’re already stringing together the words

This is amazing! My little boy is on the spectrum and is classed as pre-verbal. Attended nursery Tuesday-Friday all year around and only babbled. We relied on makaton heavily. Now, he's got 7 phonics cracked, and we can understand the majority of the things he's saying! He's even playing wuth other children and making an effort in play. We're blown away with the progress he's made. His teachers and 1:1s are amazing x

@Zahraa yes I know.. crazy! Xx

We’re still on the one word book 🙈

@Carrie that’s absolutely ok! Well done to your little boy 🌟

@Carrie I would put it on the same level. If they’re reading the one words then if you had to put those words together in a sentence your child will be able to sound each word one after another like the video above xx

@Zahraa her reading books from school are 1-3 words. This is a reading book from home, trying to challenge her & it’s payed off! Xx

Yes!!

Yes, i’m so amazed! And proud 🤩 i didnt know they could learn a huge skill in such a short amount of time x

How do you get them to blend the word? My little boy is really struggling. He phonetically spells all the letters and to me I hear the word but then when I ask him the word he just shrugs and says he doesn’t know.

@Carrie I don’t think you can “get” them to blend it. They too have to be able to hear it as they’re saying the sounds that’s what enables them to blend it. Is the school helping him with this?

@Zahraa yeah but they’re struggling with him. He’s reading every individual letter in the world phonetically correctly but then can’t say the word

@Carrie look up “Toddlers Can Read” on instagram or YouTube and see if there’s any tips in there. I know I’ve specifically seen posts/videos of his on this exact thing of being able to sound but not blend.
