Weaning

I've been weaning our LO for about a month now. I'm struggling with the amount to give her though. What is everyone else doing?. I've been pureeing veg for her. I started with just an ice cube size to give her a taste of them. Now she absolutely adores eating. I've never actually had her indicate that she's full. I started with tea time as it was easiest for us and I've now worked up to also giving her breakfast. I find breakfast easy to portion but it's tea time I struggle with. I fully believe she will just eat and eat. Today she had 4 ice cubes of 3 different veg (12 total) which felt alot. Am I over feeding her? I just feel confused with it all. Everything on the NHS says baby will indicate when full.....but she's never ever done that.

My little girl is similar… just wolfing it down! You won’t be over feeding her! She would let you know if she was full!

We followed a similar approach, 1 cube of veg puree a day, we done that for about 3 weeks. Then upped it to 2 meals a day with the same guidance that our little one will let us know he is full. He usually turns his head away or starts to play with his food which is our indication he’s had enough.

Thanks ladies. Now that I think about it, when you're mentioning that your little boy plays with his food, tonight my girl started to just blow raspberries with food in her mouth near to the end of her meal. I wonder if that's her way of telling me she's had enough. Something I'll keep an eye out for!

If it’s any consolation, I had the same worry (over feeding) but when I met the health advisor this past Tuesday and said we stopped with the measuring of teaspoons per feed and are just being guided by our little one as to when he is full, and she said we were absolutely doing the right thing. But totally get where you’re coming from, there’s such conflicting advice out there, isn’t there?! 🤔🙈

My little girl blows raspberries with the food when she’s done! Or at least we think that’s her way of saying I’m done 😂

I give my boy a portion of food (not puréed, just how I’m eating it) and he always tells me when he’s had enough. The other day he had porridge, eggs, mango and raspberries for breakfast and ended up having seconds of porridge because he enjoyed it so much, he quickly told me when he’d had enough though. He just stops eating and makes noises to say he’s done
