How much does your baby eat?

My boy is having 5oz of breastmilk but is sometimes upset so today I’ve gave him 6oz But I read that babies shouldn’t need more than 5oz of breast milk at a time is this normal? He definitely likes a bigger feeds before bed too, he sleeps from 11pm and wakes anywhere from 5-7am for a feed then has another 2/3 hour. It’s hard to say how much breast milk he eats daily because I am an under supplier and he has to have formula. He eats approx 900ml a day which I think is normal but are the bigger feeds normal?

You baby needs as much as he is asking for, not what generalised guidelines suggest. My LG drinks anywhere between 7-9oz per feed (5x feeds a day) and she's only 25th percentile. Feed responsively :)

@Phoebe I thought so… thank you so much

I second that. My baby is drinking 4-5oz and is in the 80th % 😂

My boy (2 months old) has between 5-6oz per feed every 3 hours during the day, and only 1 feed in the night (bedtime is 7pm, up around 2-3, then wake at 6-7am).

My 5 month old has 8.8oz per feed 5 times a day and sleeps 12 hour stints. Feed your baby however much he wants as you can’t overfeed a breastfed baby 😊 my LO is on the 88th percentile atm

4 to 5 oz is the average, some babies may eat more and some might eat less. Mine normally had 5oz and last time I weighed her was 36th centile (I think she's lost a little because she's spent 4 days not eating as much as isn't really eating solids either). She's now taking 4oz on average every 3 hours. If your babies a bigger baby then they probably will need more.

One thing to remember is to pace your bottle feeding. The bottle should be horizontal. Don’t deny your baby food but it shouldn’t be demolished in 5 minutes (something my daughter likes to do lol)

I thought that but my girl Was still hungry now all her bottles are between 6-9oz so I’ve had to add in some formula as I can’t keep up

@Purna thank you yeah I have always pace fed, he had really had wind until we did 😊
