IEP

How long should it take a preschool to write an IEP ? We had the meeting just over 2 weeks ago and we're told we would be sent a copy once it was written up so we could sign it ?

When my son was in preschool when had a meeting to discuss his IEP and then I got a copy the day after the meeting to sign

That’s shady and unacceptable. I always ask for the IEP draft before the meeting

I will preface this by saying that it should not have to be this way ever but; squeaky wheel gets the grease. Email cc-ing everyone involved for an update Like everybody else said pretty sure every iep meeting I ever had I walked out of knowing what was written in the plan

Depending where you are, I’m guessing preschool might not be public school? We’ve been to private AND public schools and the private schools can have a much different process so it’s hard to say what is normal for each individual school. But even still, I agree with Parker. Squeaky squeak.

They did say that they were getting someone from outside the school to come in to observe him and the staff to see if there was anything extra that could be done. I presumed this was why it was taking a while but now I'm not sure. I'm going to send an email tomorrow to chase the situation
