Posterior low lying placenta

My placenta measured 18mm away from the cervix at my 20 week scan. I will have another scan at 32 weeks. My question is, can I still have sex if it’s gentle? I know you’re not supposed to but I think the reason is if you have an orgasm or you’re being too rough then that can trigger bleeding. But surely being gentle shouldn’t cause a problem.

I was advised to have full pelvic rest (no sex) or pelvic exams or even squatting. So I have avoided it to be cautious

@Steph I have avoided as well but only ended up having sec once and it was super slow and gentle. No problems.

Hey, I have been told by my midwives that it's ok to have sex. I was so worried about it that as well. Especially as online it makes it sound like low lying placenta and placenta previa are the same thing/same risks. They said people have to be more careful when its placenta previa (covers the cervix) I have had no issues. I'm 32 weeks now and was told it was low at 20 weeks. I was told mine was 1.86cm away from cervix. Hope you get to ask your midwife soon
