Throwing food??

My son is almost 16 months. He’s always thrown food to some degree, but recently (around a year) I could put the whole plate in front of him to eat at his own pace, rather than having to give him one piece at a time. He did well for a few months, and now eats about half his food, then starts throwing it. No, it doesn’t mean he’s done. I have to take the plate from him and give him single pieces and he’ll usually finish without throwing it. Any thought on getting him to stop throwing the food if there’s more than 3 pieces on his tray? *yes, I realize this is not the end of the world, I just don’t want to form bad habits - and he KNOWS he’s not supposed to. He gives me this face, or like sneaks the food off his tray after I said no, in a very defiant way. *we have dogs, and I partially feel like he is feeding them. If I remove them from the room, he still does it, but it seems different.

I came on here to write the same thing funnily enough. Since she was 6 months she always had a plate, a few bits would get thrown but now the whole lot does straight away (she does have a suction plate) she’s 1 next week and it’s so frustrating. Like you, I have to serve individual pieces which she refuses a lot of now too. weaning had gone so well until now x

My LO is 20 months and we’ve got a GSD. Whenever you find the solution to stop throwing food and feeding the dog, please let me know 🫣
