ER and fertilization

Had my egg retrieval on Friday and retrieved 12 eggs. Got my fertilization report and 5 are mature and fertilized. I wasn’t expecting such an extreme drop off so early on. Am I out of the race?

You're not out of the race. All you need is 1 egg. The drop is completely normal. All 5 can make it. There is still a chance. I had a significant drop in mines. 43 retrieved, 41 matured and inseminated via ICSI, 26 fertilized and I ended up with 9 embryos. So the drop is to be expected. Good luck!

I started with 16 eggs collected, and ended up with 3 embryos. I am feeding my baby right now, and have his 2 siblings waiting in the freezer. Yes it's a numbers Game, but it only takes one. Our first transfer has resulted in our son

You’re not out of the race, no. It also depends a lot on the quality of your embryos. Just remember, it only takes 1 ❤️ Goodluck & lots of baby dust your way 🫶🏻

Ps: I have 2 IVF babies ✨❤️

We collected 18, 10 fertilised via ICSI and 5 made it to day 5 frozen. You will drop again (but maybe not!) so don’t feel discouraged. It only takes one egg!!! If you think about it the numbers are normal - statistically this is while it takes most so long to get pregnant - you only have 11 opportunities to get pregnant a year when having sex!! And so many factors have to be aligned!! Stay positive 💪🏼 Also out of our 5 we had 2 transfers and now have 2 ivf babies 🥰

You are not out of the race, not at all!! My first ER, I got 9 eggs, 2 fertilized and reached blastocyst, 1 was PGT-A normal. Second retrieval 9 eggs, 2 reached blastocyst, and 0 were PGT-A normal. Third retrieval 20 eggs, 7 reached blastocyst, 3 PGT-A normal. Fourth retrieval 10 eggs, 3 reached blastocyst, and 3 were PGT-A normal. I'm now holding my almost 4 month baby, my embryo from the first retrieval! I played the ivf numbers game each time, made myself nuts, and each time I was wrong. Wishing you good luck and sending you love

Not out by any means! I started out with super high numbers so the dropoff was really pretty devastating. I get it. I had 44 eggs retrieved, 34 mature, 33 fertilized, 11 made it to blastocyst, and 6 PGT-A normal embryos. I think generally the more eggs you start out with, the more drastic the cuts at each stage, which is hard. But I’m now 20 weeks pregnant after our first FET. Like everyone said, it’s a numbers game but it literally only takes one. If it’s sticky, it will stick. Sending love! 💕

Definitely not. I only had 5 eggs retrieved and ended up with 4 (untested) frozen blastocysts x

Definitely not!! My biggest attrition was eggs retrieved to eggs mature and fertilized. All but one of my fertilized egg became a good quality blast :) it is different person to person, but hold out some hope yet!

Yes absolutely. I had 11 collected, 9 fertilized and 3 embryos created with ICSI made it. I had one fresh transfer - failed and my 2nd transfer was frozen and I’m due to give birth this week and we have one little embryo frozen!

I had 5 collected, 3 matured & fertilised. 2 placed back in me. I asked the same question on here & they all said ‘it only takes one’ which it absolutely does!

Not at all! I got 17 eggs and only 3 fertilised. 2 made it to blast. 1 is frozen, the other is a toddler

@Rebeca good luck for the impending arrival!

Not at all! I had 22 eggs retrieved, 11 fertilized, and 6 blasts. I was shocked about how much the numbers from retrieval to blasts differed, but as others have said, quality over quantity. Good luck girly!
