When to start trying again

Looking for advice on how long to wait to try again. I just stopped bleeding after a miscarriage. My partner and I really want to start trying again. Is a negative test enough to know it’s okay to try, or is it worth testing hcg levels until they’re at zero? Wondering what everyone’s experience has been to get their rainbow babies?

We were told that we should wait for a negative test before we started trying again, I didn’t need to check HCG levels. Personally, we started trying immediately once I had the negative test - I ovulated shortly after the negative and fell pregnant again straight away, I’m now 29 weeks. We were told that this happens to a lot of people as you tend to be more fertile after a miscarriage. I guess ultimately it is up to you and what you want to do, some people like to wait until they’ve had a cycle and some people just want to start trying again. Best of luck to you x

Thank you! We want to try again as soon as possible, but don’t want to try too soon and have the same thing happen. I’m still testing positive but hoping everything’s back to normal soon. Congratulations!

Yeah you just need to do what’s right for you, although it was great it was a bit of a shock falling pregnant again so soon and caused quite a lot of anxiety! Everyone is different so just do what you are comfortable with x

So sorry for your loss❤️. After my missed miscarriage (10weeks) and D&C after retained tissue for medical management, the nurse at the early pregnancy unit said that any negative test is good, it doesn’t have to be a really sensitive one. And apparently some women just have higher hcg levels generally and that’s why some people get positives earlier than others. So maybe hcg levels might not be helpful. And as you’ll have probably seen in this group, I think it does take time for some women to have their body go back to normal. For me, I had a 5 week cycle, a 7week cycle and then another 5week cycle. Then I found I was pregnant 5months after the d&c but I think that was when I was emotionally much better too, even though I actively tried for one immediately. Sending lots of love xxxxx

Thank you for sharing your experience. I find it hard as I was told different things by different doctors so figured I’d come here to get actual experiences of what worked for others.

Yeah, completely agree - I wish I was on peanut at the actual time of my miscarriage. Can be really helpful

I had a mc in October doctors told me to wait until at least 1 period and now I'm pregnant Dec

Congratulations!

My doctors recommended going through a full regular cycle before trying again after our miscarriage. It also took us a couple of months to be emotionally ready which is another important thing to evaluate.
