Adding in formula when BF..size of bottle

LO is 18 days old, for several reasons we have started introducing bottles. At the moment this is for roughly feeds that are between 6pm-ish and midnight (typically 2-3 feeds) we’re mainly doing the ready made formula (Aptamil) but I’ve just started expressing so the last two days we’ve done a bottle of breast milk. My question is what size feeds are people giving their LOs, we’re finding that despite slow flow, size 1 teats etc he’s drinking it fairly quickly and inevitably is bringing it up (not all of it most of the time) - are we giving too big a feed. Should we be sticking with smaller 30ml bottles and then seeing how he is? We’re giving smaller bottles and then seeing how he is but then when he cries we’re immediately going in with another bottle. Just wondering if we’re leaping to that too soon (FYI when weighed last week he had put on but was still not back at birth weight) He weighed 3.4kgs. Thank you! 💙

What bottles do you use? The only reason I ask is there might be a smaller size 0 teat you can try and use. We use the MAM bottles and this is the size teat we use

We’ve started introducing a top up of formula before bed. Usually 60ml & sometimes he won’t even have all that. Look into paced feeding - https://www.pampers.co.uk/newborn-baby/feeding/article/paced-bottle-feeding

We still use a MAM size 0 on any bottles of expressed... 7 weeks old and EBF. Still use the smallest bottle... About 140ml size and I don't always fill it either. She usually gets about 3oz and she'll drink all of it

Are you using the paced feeding method? Mimics BF ours would nail a bottle of any amount in a min if given the option but paced stick to a normal amount and takes 30 odd mins

Have been using Tommee Tippee bottles mainly. I think the smallest they do is a size 1. I can’t find anywhere anything consistent re how much at 2-4 weeks I should be giving him (appreciating he might not want it all anyway) in a bottle. Can anyone recommend anywhere for me to look as a guide for volumes?
