Baby diarrhoea/gastro

Hey mums My 10 month old has gastro/diarrhoea since last 3 weeks or even more, he is doing upto 6 very flowey liquidy poops everyday, as soon as he eats or drinks milk he poops. Have been taking him to multiple GPs all are telling me he seems fine because he is hydrated, he is active so just ignore. I asked them if I should take him to hospital, they said no, unless he is dehydrated and very weak and dry lips, don’t take him to hospital. Now my question is WHAT SHOULD I DO? How do we make him stop pooping this much and watery?? Its been more than 3 weeks that his poop isn’t solid. And he is doing it alot, so watery that it leaks and I have to change clothes 6 times a day. He has reduced his appetite, taking half servings 2 times a day, and formula has reduced to a max of 300ml per day. We are giving him boiled water. Is there anything we should do to stop his diarrhoea?? He has 6 teeth so far and with none his diarrhoea was this bad. Right now he doesn’t seem to be teething. Need desperate help Thanks Distressed mum

Hi there, after 3 weeks this is not considered acute. Maybe think of food allergies, coeliac and other causes of diarrhoea. I’m sorry to hear this is causing you guys so much distress and hope it’s nothing/will go away by itself. Maybe see the GP and request some stool tests to be done, or bloods if necessary if this continues. Is baby loosing weight? Take some photos of the stool to help.. some gut problems have specific looks to the stool. Hope this helps xx

Thanks Gabriella, will def do a stool test tomorrow. Haven’t given him anything unusual though, he had fish the day diarrhoea started, do you think that could have not suited him, but thats the only time he had it

have a lot of diarrhoea (eight to 10 watery poos, or two or three large poos per day) or if the diarrhoea is not improving after 10 days This is from the royal children's Hospital fact sheet about diarrhoea in babies over 6 months. I'd just take them to emergency. Gastro actually can last a couple of weeks, it did once with my baby, but it also doesn't mean it's good for them to have it for so long. Everything is passing through so quickly that it also affects nutrient absorption and can cause depletion. I don't know why so many doctors are so blasé about illness in babies If the symptoms started suddenly and bubs doesn't have any other symptoms of food allergies and intolerances than it's not likely to be food related. Remember, you don't need a GPs permission to go to emergency

This is what I am thinking, it is alot, but where are these GPs coming from, why aren’t they suggesting going to hospital
