Elective C Section process UHCW

Just wanted to ask What is it like getting a C-section at UHCW. Can you describe the experience and the recovery process there? Do patients get their own room, or is it a shared ward? Also, where do birth partners sleep during your stay?

I had a c-section at UHCW 12 days ago, I couldn’t complain at all about the experience. The team in theatre were so supportive, talked me through everything that was happening. They asked our preferences for skin to skin, whether my partner wanted to cut the cord. They used my partners phone to take photos of little man being born, cut enough cord for my partner to then cut the cord. You’re then taken to a recovery bay where you’re assessed, given pain relief etc, before they take you to the ward. On the ward we shared with three other people. The midwives come and check your bleeding, monitor your pain etc, and check in with baby. You have your observations done every 4 hours. During the night they came to remove my catheter, and then the next morning I was encouraged to take a slow walk to the toilet etc. I was very keen to go home the next day so was discharged 24hours after my c-section. My partner didn’t stay but a couple of others did, they slept on a chair in the bay.

I've had 3 c-sections at Uhcw, shared ward with few other ladies but one thing I say Is never be afraid to ring the bell if you need anything If its just you and baby. That's what they there for x
